Reflect on Previous Work
For this exercise, you'll have the look back to your previous work and re-see your writing with fresh eyes, inlcuding:
● Your First Draft - Step 5-2
● Your Free Writes - Step 6 Part 1: Writing Outside the Essay
● Your Potential New Openings - Step 6 Part 2: New Openings
● Any comments that I made on your essay work thus far.
Read your first draft again, paying particular attention to both CONTENT and STRUCTURE. Then, do the following:
- Highlight sentences, phrases, or sectoins in GREEN that truly shine. This includes great details, examples of your writing voice, and elements that help you answer the prompt and express your theme.
- Next, highlight redundant items in RED. You have limited space for your essay, so say something once and move on. You can likely cut repetitive content without losing anything important.
- Finally, review your free writes in Step 6-1 Writing Outside the Essay and Step 6-2 New Openings. Make notes using “comments” in the margins about changes you want to make in your next draft.
Go to Step 7-1 in the Essay Folder and thoroughly answer all questions.
DO NOT CONTINUE TO STEP 7-2 UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED FEEDBACK FROM KRIS!
